This is an idea I had for QANTAS. I never worked for them, I just put it in my folio.
Recently, Manchester Museum returned a stolen Indigenous Australian artefact to its traditional owners. In museums all over Europe, hundreds of items stolen from Australia’s First Nations are on display – almost always with no cultural context from First Nations people.
Introducing the QANTAS ‘bring them home’ campaign, which petitions institutions like The British Museum to return stolen Indigenous artefacts to their traditional owners.
In return, QANTAS partners with Australian museums (notably, Melbourne Museum) to temporarily loan The British Museum artefacts owned and curated by First Nations people. Finally, items will be displayed with the correct information and, finally, stolen artefacts will be returned.
QANTAS brings them home.
